Operculicarya Decaryi

 OPERCULICARYA DECARYI

Today I shall tell you about one of my favourite plant OPERCULICARYA DECARYI. This plant is naturally available at Madagaskar. It's a natural bonsai. When I first got this plant in winter it had few leaves. the first thought that came to my mind, how to make the soil for this plant. I researched the natural habitat of the plant. what I understood it requires more organic soil, unlike the cactus. it requires water more. So I decided to make the soil with 50 per cent vermicompost, rest coarse sand and perlite. The roots form a small caudex. They are also known as elephant trees. I kept the plant in such a place so that it receives at least 4 hours of sun. initially, I used to keep it under the full sun for 8 hours, I found the leaves turning copper colour. Then I shifted it to a place where it gets partial sun. I feed the plant with only vermicompost every month. Now it has got beautiful green leaves. It's a slow growing plant, which is easy to grow only requires little attention.
